TMJ & Buccal Massage
Relief for jaw tension, clenching, headaches and TMJ pain.
Jaw pain, clicking, clenching and tension headaches often start in the small muscles of the jaw and face, which a regular massage doesn’t reach. Our TMJ massage is a focused 60-minute registered massage therapy treatment for the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the muscles that move it. It covers the jaw, face, neck and head and, when appropriate, includes intraoral (buccal) work inside the mouth.

For bookings, please book under either Venetia Breen, Tari Haynes, or Pallas Pace, the registered massage therapists who offer this service.

What Is TMJ Dysfunction?
The TMJ connects your jaw to your skull, and you use it every time you talk, chew or yawn. When the surrounding muscles become overworked, often from clenching, grinding, stress or posture, the joint can become painful or move poorly. Common signs include:
- Jaw pain or tenderness, especially in the morning
- Clicking, popping or locking of the jaw
- Clenching or grinding (bruxism)
- Tension headaches or pain around the temples
- Ear fullness or pain with no ear infection
- Neck and shoulder tension

Buccal (Intraoral) Massage
Some of the key jaw muscles, like the masseter and the pterygoids, are hard to reach from outside the face. With your consent, your therapist can work on them directly from inside the mouth while wearing medical gloves. Many clients book this treatment specifically for the buccal work. It’s always optional, and your therapist will explain each step and check in with you throughout.

What to Expect During Your Session
- A short assessment of your jaw movement, posture and symptoms

- Self-care tips, like stretches and habits to reduce clenching between visits
